Wallpaper Calculator
What This Calculator Does
The Wallpaper Calculator estimates the number of wallpaper rolls needed for a room based on the perimeter, ceiling height, and the number of doors and windows. Enter the room measurements and opening counts to get the gross wall area, net wall area (after door/window deductions), and rolls needed including a 10% pattern repeat allowance.
Wallpaper is making a comeback in US interior design, with modern materials including peel-and-stick, textured, and mural-style options. Standard US wallpaper rolls cover approximately 56 square feet of usable wall area after accounting for pattern matching waste.
Standard doors are estimated at 21 sq ft each (3x7 ft), and standard double-hung windows at 15 sq ft each. The calculator subtracts these from the gross wall area before computing rolls needed.
How to Use
- Measure the room perimeter (sum of all wall lengths) in feet.
- Measure the ceiling height in feet.
- Count the number of standard doors and windows in the room.
- Enter all measurements into the calculator fields above.
- Click "Calculate" to see the number of rolls needed - add 1 extra roll for contingency.
